CHESTERTOWN, MD—Guitarist Matt Palmer will offer the final “12@Hotchkiss” concert of the season at Washington College on Friday April 5 with works by composers that span the continents and the centuries. The concert, which begins at noon in the Gibson Center for the Arts, is free and open to the public.
Palmer, described as “highly expressive and technically virtuosic” by Modern Guitars Magazine, will perform pieces by Joaquín Rodrigo, Sergei Rudnev, Ronaldo Miranda, J.S. Bach, Vincente Asencio, and Stepan Rak.
A vibrant young performer who has appeared as a soloist throughout North and South America, Europe and the Caribbean, Palmer recently received the “Up and Coming Guitarist of the Year Award” from Guitar International Magazine. He wrote The Virtuoso Guitarist, a pioneering pedagogy that has been recognized as “indispensable for any advanced guitarist or teacher to include in their library” (Classical Guitar Review). Palmer holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from The University of Arizona.
