Jonathan McKnight ’85, director of Maryland’s Natural Heritage Program, will speak March 4 about conserving rare species and natural areas.
CHESTERTOWN, MD—On Monday, March 4, the Joseph H. McLain Program in Environmental Studies at Washington College will present “Conserving Maryland’s Rare Species and Natural Areas,” a lecture by alumnus Jonathan A. McKnight ’85. The event will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Litrenta Lecture Hall in the John S. Toll Science Center on the College campus, 300 Washington Avenue. It is free and open to the public.

McKnight is the director of the Maryland Natural Heritage Program, a service of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. The Program celebrates Maryland’s ecology and seeks to conserve and protect rare flora and fauna throughout the state’s diverse ecosystems. McKnight works to promote awareness of the value of Maryland’s natural heritage and educate about the need for and execution of conservation and restoration efforts.
