Poetry Club and EROS hosted a reading to celebrate Coming Out Day

This Coming Out Day the Poetry Club and EROS hosted a Pride-themed poetry reading. This featured not only students’ personal works, but works from prominent LGBTQ+ poets. The event was marked by the inclusive and accepting spirit of the event, and a sense of greater community within WAC.

Poetry Club Vice President Gabby Rente ’20, said “I read two pieces, one called ‘These Poems’ by Audre Lorde, and the second was an original piece by me about learning to be a good ally. Reading aloud my own work is always nerve-wracking because I’m always thinking, ‘Did I get the words right? Are people going to connect?’ Each time, it’s always worth it. … I felt really lucky to have [EROS’s] help in planning the reading, especially on a topic in which I knew little.”
