Climate Change and Evolution
Location: John S. Toll Science Center
CHESTERTOWN, MD—On Monday evening, April 8, the Joseph H. McLain Program in Environmental Studies will present “Climate Change – The Long & Short of It,” a lecture by Washington College alumna Eileen D. Grogan ’84. The event will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Litrenta Lecture Hall of the Toll Science Center. It is free and open to the public.
Through her informed evaluation as a university educator, evolutionary-developmental biologist and field researcher, Grogan approaches climate change with an understanding of both the short- and long-term data surrounding this controversial issue. She will explore the evidence of climate change in the history of life on earth and how it has been a factor in evolutionary change.
Grogan is a Professor of Biology at Saint Joseph’s University, where she has taught courses in environmental and sustainability studies and environmental science. She received her B.A. in biology from Washington College, then went on to earn a master’s in biology from Adelphi University, and Ph.D. in marine science from the College of William and Mary.
