Auditions for “A Merry War” Monday, April 15

Head to Tawes Theatre at 7 p.m. to try out for the premier of Philip Rosenberg’s adaptation of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing as a classic Hollywood musical.

CHESTERTOWN, MD––The National Music Festival at Washington College will hold  auditions on Monday, April 15, at 7 p.m. in Tawes Theatre for a workshop production of A Merry War. Written and directed by Philip Rosenberg,  A Merry War is a musical adaptation of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing as a Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers 1930s Hollywood musical.  The music is by Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Cole Porter, and Kurt Weill.

Rehearsals begin May 25, and the performances are June 9 and 10 (both at 7:30 p.m.).  All rehearsals and performances will be held in Tawes Theatre.   

In addition to performing roles, NMF seeks interested students to act as choreographer(s), apprentice director, apprentice stage manager, and production crew.  

Copies of the script will be available for review in the Green Room of the Gibson Center for the Arts.

Washington College will provide housing  for participating students.
