CHESTERTOWN, MD—On Tuesday, Nov. 5, award-winning poet Eduardo C. Corral comes to Washington College for a reading at the Rose O’Neill Literary House. Corral is the third guest of this semester’s “Chicano/a & Latino/a Voices” series. His reading begins at 5:30 p.m., with a book signing to follow. It is free and open to the public. 

Corral’s debut poetry collection, Slow Lightning, earned him the Yale Younger Poets Prize. Hailed as “wise and immense” by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Junot Diaz, the collection fuses Spanish and English to explore issues such as class, ethnicity, and sexuality. Corral’s poetry has also appeared in Best American Poetry 2012, Ploughshares, Poetry, and the New England Review. He is the recipient of a Whiting Writers Award and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship and currently teaches at Columbia University.

The “Chicano/a & Latino/a Voices” Series explores the diversity and energy of contemporary poets, novelists, nonfiction writers, and scholars. It aims to study and discover shared ideas, histories, cultures and narratives of the Chicano/a and Latino/a experience.  The Literary House is located at 407 Washington Avenue.
