Weekly Round Up 2/24

February 24, 2017
The majority of Spring athletics start this Saturday, but a couple programs have seen success in their openers.

Men’s Lacrosse:

Despite the long bus ride to Atlanta, the Shoremen picked up a 13-4 victory over Birmingham-Southern on Saturday, February 18th.

The offense started and ended the game strong, scoring the first two goals of the game, and gaining a 10-1 advantage in goals in the final 30 minutes.

Junior Tyler Powers scored five goals. Junior goalie Ben Flood allowed four goals, while collecting 14 saves. With his efforts, he was named to the Centennial Conference player of the week.

WC hosts Washington and Lee this Saturday at noon for a non-conference match up.

Men’s Tennis:

The Shoremen swept Catholic University, 9-0 in their home opener on Sunday, February 19th. With the efforts of Zack Novick, he was named the Centennial Conference player of the week after winning his doubles match and singles match. Junior John Niswander picked up his first collegiate singles win.

WC will be back in action on March 4th, at home versus St. Mary’s.
