Teacher Education

December 01, 2011
Framed by the liberal arts philosophy and approach to undergraduate education, Washington College’s Education Department enjoys a rich tradition of preparing students for teacher certification at the elementary and secondary levels.

Graduates of the “Ed Block,” a rigorous immersion program of theoretical, philosophical, and methodological coursework, fieldwork, “Academy” teaching simulations with video analysis, and a 100-day internship teaching in a Maryland Professional Development School, go on to do meaningful, award-winning work as teaching faculty, administrative leaders, policy advocates, curriculum specialists, academic researchers, and museum educators. The following galleries highlight some of the unique opportunities recently realized by Secondary Education students engaged in the program.
