CHESTERTOWN, MD—On Friday, Nov. 1, the Washington College Department of Music will present a free lunchtime concert by the Washington, D.C.-based woodwind trio Capital Reeds. Performing an assortment of new music and standard works, Capital Reeds will be the third installment of this season’s 12@Hotchkiss midday concerts, which take place at noon on the first Friday of the month in Hotchkiss Recital Hall, Gibson Center for the Arts.

Formed in February 2013, Capital Reeds combines the talents of oboist Noelle Drewes, clarinetist Santana Moreno, and bassoonist Jeff Ward. The new trio has already commissioned several new works by D.C. area composers and has worked tirelessly to expand its repertoire. The performance at Washington College will mark the musicians’ first-ever performance of what they call their “biggest hurdle yet”: the Villa-Lobos Trio for clarinet, oboe, and bassoon. Much of the rest of the program will focus on French music.

Individually, the members of Capital Reeds have performed all over the Mid-Atlantic region in esteemed groups such as the National Symphony Orchestra, the United States Naval Academy Band, and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. For more information, please visit www.capitalreeds.com.
