“Just as the body of water becomes bigger, so did my aspirations and growth as a person during this time.”

The Chester River, in its admirable beauty, represents both Chestertown and Washington College. But we often forget that the Chester River connects with the Chesapeake Bay, a much larger body of water. Freshman year is the Chester; sophomore year is the bay. Just as the body of water becomes bigger, so did my aspirations and growth as a person during this time. Then, as we all know, the Chesapeake empties out into the Atlantic Ocean. This represents my growth from junior year to now. I literally crossed the Atlantic, as I studied abroad in France during the entirety of my junior year.

My dreams, confidence, skills as a learner, and overall personality became as vast as the Atlantic, thanks to this experience, and it’s something I’ll take with me for the rest of my life.
