In post-season play with Swarthmore College, the men’s basketball team concluded its most successful season in seven years.

The Shoremen didn’t make it to Big Dance, but they came closer than they have in seven years. For the first time since 2012, the men’s basketball team advanced to the Centennial Conference playoffs, edging out Franklin and Marshall in the first round to head to the semifinals.

Pitted against top-seeded Swarthmore College, the Shoremen fell 77-59 and concluded their campaign at 14-13, mirroring their 2011-12 season when they also advanced to the semifinals.

“Our team’s hard work, commitment, selflessness, and love for each other were big factors in reaching our team goal to make the Centennial Conference tournament, after being picked in the pre-season to finish 9th out of 10 teams,” says Head Coach Aaron Goodman. “Team captains Kevin McCormick ’19, Josh Porteous ’20, and Dallas Marshall ’20 led by example and helped us take a big step forward as a program. I feel great for Kevin, as a senior, who stuck with this program’s evolution, and he was an integral part of his team’s dream realized.”

Coach Goodman is especially grateful to the fans for their support.

“It was awesome seeing the great campus community energy throughout our season, and I want to give a big THANK YOU! Having had a taste of championship-level basketball we will grow even stronger and I’m confident that we will put in the work so we can take another big step next season.”
