Call for Artists: 100 Proof
OPEN CALL FOR ART
Kohl Gallery is pleased to announce the annual student exhibition 100 Proof in the spring semester 2018.
Kohl Gallery submissions this year supports a wide range of art forms. We encourage engagement in society & environment through visual art which is a serious and rigorous form of agency that enriches our local culture and society at large. We eagerly look forward to seeing how your learning at the college is evident through visual language in your artwork. You do not need be an art major to apply. Hidden and emerging art forms are welcome. Our broad exhibition theme this year will be
Expand Space/Share Place
All Washington College students are invited to apply. Creative art work in any medium (including performance) is eligible for inclusion. Submissions will be reviewed by the Kohl Gallery Interim Director with guest juror. Final selections will be made with an eye to the following criteria: quality of the work (this is by far the most important piece of the puzzle); strength of the work’s relation to the theme Expand Space/Share Place; and logistical feasibility. A performance program will be designed if there are submissions for performance art. Our juror this year will be Gerald Ross, Director of Exhibitions, Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore, MD.
Submissions are due @ midnight, Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018
ART WORKS TIMELINE
February 27: Applications due
March 6: Selections announced via email
March 21: 9:00am to 6:00pm: Installation/Work Drop Off at Kohl (students will be alerted as to whether they need to install or drop-off their work in their acceptance email)
March 22: 10:00am to 4:00pm: Installation/Work Drop Off at Kohl (students will be alerted as to whether they need to install or drop-off their work in their acceptance email)
March 23: Exhibition opens with Opening Reception 5-7pm
April 9: Exhibition closes
April 10 & 11: De-installation (everything not claimed by the end of the day on the 11th will be discarded, no exceptions)
