Weekly Recap 4/29
Softball: The Shorewomen clinched a two seed in the Centennial Conference Tournament after a two game sweep over Franklin and Marshall College on Saturday. WC won game one 6-2, and game two 10-1.
In the first game, sophomore Maddie Bennett went 2-3 with a home run and a career high five RBI’s. Juniors Taylor Harcum and Elaini DiPrimio each scored two runs as well. In the second game, Harcum went 3-3 with four RBI’s.
WC will face Gettysburg College at a neutral location (McDaniel College), on Friday, May 5th.
Baseball: The Shoremen finished up their season by splitting a doubleheader with Ursinus College.
Senior pitched Billy Griffin threw a complete game in the game one win, where he totaled for 10 strikeouts. In the second game, junior Matt Tancredi went 4-5 with a run.
WC ends their season with a 15-23 record.
Women’s Tennis: The fifth seeded playoff-bound Shorewomen fell to Franklin & Marshall College on Saturday, 6-3.
Juniors Julie Lazer and Rachel Martinez won another doubles match, while Lazer also won her singles match.
WC will play their first round match of the Centennial Conference Tournament on Wednesday, March 3rd when they travel to Haverford College.
Men’s Tennis: The fourth seeded playoff-bound Shoremen lost a 5-4 match versus Franklin and Marshall College on Saturday.
Senior Jeremy Novick and junior Luke Weaver won their doubles match 8-6.
WC will face Franklin and Marshall College again, on Wednesday May 3rd. This time they will compete in the first round of the Centennial Conference Tournament.
Women’s Lacrosse: The Shorewomen are also playoff-bound even though they lost to Gettysburg College on Saturday, 13-3.
Senior goalie Haylee Solomon had 6 saves in the contest while senior Kat Vincent and sophomores Cecily Docktor and Kristy Grovom all had one goal.
WC will play their first round game in the Centennial Conference Tournament on Wednesday, May 3rd when they travel to Dickinson College.
Men’s Lacrosse: The Shoremen played their final game of the season traveling to Gettysburg College where they fell short short of the Bullets, 12-8.
Three players scored two goals for WC, juniors Tanner Barbieri and Tyler Powers and Freshman Cooper Sloan. Sophomore Kevin Trapp led the team with 3 assists. Junior goalie Ben Flood notched 11 saves as well.
The Shoremen ended the season with a 9-7 record.
Men’s Rowing: The team ended their season on a high note, finishing in third-place in the petite final of the varsity eight at Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference Championships.
The varsity eight lineup consisted of Alex Kincaid, Nate Bonsib, Theo Aris, Chris Eggstein, Daniel Benton, Andrew Castillo, Philip Whitehouse, Brook Yimer, and Tom Heffernan.
Women’s Rowing: The Shorewomen won their fifth consecutive Mid-Atlantic Rowing Confernce title, securing another bid to the NCAA Divison III Championship. Both the first and second varsity eights won their scoring races.
Senior Maddie Morrissette and junior Jules Shipps were placed on the All-MARC Varsity Team.
The team will compete in the Division III National Champinship on May 26th and 27th in West Windsor, N.J.
Sailing: The team finished in first of five teams at the Salisbury Spring Open and 15th of 18 teams at the America Trophy to finish out their season.
Skipper Paul Hart and crew Bridgette Hindt won the A Division while Skipper Will Sunkler and crew Ellie Lienert won the B Division.
