Jewish Voices: Dylan Landis

Location: Rose O’Neill Literary House

October 03, 2012
Author Dylan Landis will kick off the Rose O’Neill Literary House’s “Jewish Voices” series on October 9 at 4:30 p.m. with a reading from her acclaimed debut collection of short stories, Normal People Don’t Live Like This. Sponsored by the Sophie Kerr Lecture Series, the reading is free and open to the public.
Landis has a background in journalism, covering everything from medicine for the New Orleans Times-Picayune to interior design for the Chicago Tribune. After leaving newspapers behind for fiction, she saw her short stories published in literary magazines and anthologies including Tin House and Best American Nonrequired Reading. Her novel-in-stories Normal People Don’t Live Like This was named a Newsday Top 10 Book of 2009 and has received much praise. Pulitzer Prize winner Elizabeth Strout called it a “wonderful, intriguing, and original debut.”
The “Jewish Voices” series will continue November 13 with “An Evening of Words and Music with Anna Solomon and Clare Burson,” and concludes December 4 with a poetry reading by Idra Novey. The Literary House is located at 407 Washington Avenue.
