Spring Convocation 2018

Marking the bicentennial of Frederick Douglass’s birth in February 2018, Washington College posthumously awarded him the honorary degree, Doctor of Laws.  Awards for Excellence were presented to David Blight, a professor of history at Yale University and director of the Gilder Lehrman Center for the Study of Slavery, Resistance and Abolition, and to Ken Morris, a direct descendant of Douglass who founded the non-profit organization, Frederick Douglass Family Initiatives.
