Members of the family Paridae, chickadees and titmice are small perching birds with strong feet. They also have short thin bills used for gleaning insects and seeds. Both nest in cavities and will sometimes use bird boxes.
Each year students come and go through the doors of the GIS lab, but there are the faithful few who invest themselves into the grand vision of the ever-expanding lab and advancing innovative GIS technology. Senior Smaa Koraym has been dedicated in working within the GIS lab since August 2009 of her freshman year.
Northern Saw-whet owl banding at Foreman’s Branch Bird Observatory has been extremely successful this fall, with more than 250 birds banded to date. On November 15, several owls were examined and documented.
