Race of Place/Place of Race: Views from the Visual Arts

Join us for a day of talks, a panel discussion with Washington College faculty members and an alumna, stories from audience members and an exercise in community image-making.

This event is the first of several community events, with a lecture by Gwendolyn DuBois Shaw, associate professor of art history and affiliated faculty member in Africana studies, cinema studies, women and gender studies at the University of Pennsylvania, a presentation by members of the Amber Art and Design collective of Philadelphia, a panel discussion with current and former Washington College faculty members and story-telling and image-making by those in attendance.

This event is free and open to the public with support from the Department of Art and Art History, the Art and Art History Club the Program in Black Studies, the Department of Education and the Office of Multicultural Affairs Washington College and The Hedgelawn Foundation.
