“A Woman in a Man’s World: 10 Months in Paktiya, Afghanistan with US Army Special Forces.”

Jackie Munn recently completed five years of honorable military service as an Army Captain. Her military experience includes: a year-long deployment to Iraq as a Supply Chain Logistician, two years as an Executive officer and Assistant Operations officer for the Warrior Transition Brigade at the Walter Reed Army Medial Center in Washington, DC, a 16 month assignment serving as a Cultural Support Team Leader for 3rd Special Forces Group at Fort Bragg, NC; including a 10 month deployment with Special Forces at a remote outpost in eastern Afghanistan, and a brief internship with the Israeli Defense Force. Her awards include two Bronze Star medals, the Parachutist badge, and a Combat Action Badge for being engaged by enemy forces in Pakitya, Afghanistan. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from the United States Military Academy at West Point and is currently pursuing a Masters of Science degree in Nursing from Vanderbilt University.  Jackie, the daughter of a career Army officer, is currently living in Fayetteville, North Carolina with her husband Erik, an Army Captain and her adorable cat Kevin.
