The 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington

Please join us in commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington on August 28, 2013 from 11am-4pm in the Goose Nest located in Hodson Hall Commons.  The change in the time reflects the updated schedule released by the official 50th Anniversary March on Washington Committee.  The Goose Nest will be showing live coverage of the events occurring in our nation’s capitol. President Obama will speak starting at 3:00pm on the steps of the memorial.  Former presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton will speak prior to President Obama.

In the Goose Nest, the campus community will be able to reflect on the “I Have A Dream” speech delivered to over 200,000 people on August 28, 1963 by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In keeping with Dr. King’s message of service, the program will provide information on service opportunities to participate in through out the school year and opportunity for the community to take “the next steps toward fulfilling the dream.”
