ReEntry: A Performance & Discussion with KJ Sanchez

Date: 4:30pm - 6:00pm EDT April 11, 2013

KJ Sanchez discusses her play ReEntry, including a student performance of a short selection from the play.

KJ Sanchez is the CEO and founder of American Records, a theater company devoted to making work that chronicles our time. Her flagship play, ReEntry, co-written with Emily Ackerman and directed by Sanchez is based on interviews with Marines returning from war in Iraq and Afghanistan. For the last five years ReEntry has toured theaters across the country. It has also taken on another life: the play is used as post-deployment training and has been presented at over 30 military bases and hospitals both in the US and abroad. Excerpts of the play will be performed and KJ will share the behind-the-scenes making of the play as well as what she has seen and heard from these military communities as they have engaged with the play.

KJ Sanchez is the 2013 Douglass Wallop Fellow at the Rose O’Neill Literary House. This event is part of her week-long residency at Washington College.
