Veterans are free for dinner; other adults are $13.50.

Dinner at Hodson Hall begins at 4:30 p.m. and runs until 6 p.m. It will be followed by a coffee and cookie reception in Underwood Lobby of the Gibson Center for the Arts from 6:00-7:30 p.m.

At 7:30 p.m., the Naval Academy Band’s Superintendent’s Combo takes the stage in Hotchkiss Recital Hall in the Gibson Center for the Arts. Under the direction of Chief Musician Colin Renick on saxophones and clarinet, the Superintendent’s Combo will perform a stroll through jazz history, from Dixieland to bebop, and from swing to fusion and funk. The program will intertwine the history of America’s music – jazz –with the history of the U.S. Navy in the 20th century and will feature compositions by jazz legends Louie Armstrong, Duke Ellington, and Thelonious Monk.

The Superintendent’s Combo is the United States Naval Academy Band’s jazz combo designated to support the many events hosted by the Superintendent of the United States Naval Academy. The group regularly performs for local military officials and visiting dignitaries from around the globe at the Superintendent’s residence, Buchanan House, and around the Naval Academy. The group has appeared at The Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage, the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire Jazz Festival, the Frederick Festival of the Arts, and at annual summer concert series throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
