12th annual Cardboard Boat Race and Waterfront Festival

Join the Center for Environment & Society for an afternoon of fun in the park after the dedication of the new Hodson Boat House.
An annual part of Fall Family Weekend, the 12th annual Cardboard Boat Race will take place at 3 pm. This event is fun for both participants and spectators alike. Teams of 2-6 will compete in a 300-meter course in human-powered vessels constructed out of cardboard and other approved materials. Will they make it around or will they sink before the race even begins?! Awards and prizes up to $650 include: First through third around the course, best theme, most team spirit, people’s choice, and best unintentional sinking.
From 1 pm to 4 pm in Wilmer Park, enjoy fun, prizes, food, beer, and live music. Visit each table for your chance to enter a drawing for one of two prizes, a ride for up to 10 people on the College’s research vessel OR a private tour of Chino Farms for up to 6 people. Take a stab at some Center for Environment & Society Trivia for a chance to win a prize.
Boat rides on the College’s research vessel the Callinectes will be available from 1-4 on a first come first serve basis for $5 per person, sign up will be held at the Center for Environment & Society table in Wilmer Park.
Kayaks, paddleboards and more will be available for use through the College’s NEW boathouse.
