Expand Space / Share Place
A Group Exhibition by Washington College Students

March 23 – April 9, 2018
Opening Reception: Friday, March 23, 5-7pm

Kohl Gallery & Washington College encourage engagement in society & culture through visual art and scholarship as a form of agency – enriching local communities and society. A wide range of materials and emerging art forms are represented in this exhibition. Exploration around notions of expanded space, and shared place are highlighted throughout the gallery.  Jurors encouraged entries related to the consideration of space and place as fluid, shifting and open in a world where contested spaces and places are a reality. How do students at Washington College expand the spaces understood and known? How are places shared, visualized and/or problematized through art work? Selections were made by Kohl’s Interim Director, Renee van der Stelt, and guest Juror Allison Nance, Director of Hillyer Art Space in Washington DC.

Participating students:

Tatiana Baughman, Morgan Bench, Jess Burns, Picabo French, Rachel Frebert, Cameron Gilson, Dylan Grimes, Annie Grosscup, Heber N Guerra-Recinos, Drake Harrison, Tia Johnston, Rachel Kanaskie, Alaina McCleary, Andrew Poe, Alex Riedel, Kyle Rugletic, Madi Shenk, Aaron Wallace-Holland, Chenlin Wang, Anna Watts, Casey Wohlar, Xidan Zhange.
