CANCELED: Washington College Piano Festival

The 3rd annual Washington College Piano Festival invites participants of all ages to further develop their talents in an immersive educational experience. Students will have the opportunity to take piano lessons with Washington College piano faculty, perform in Hotchkiss Recital Hall, attend an improvisation workshop, and compete to win prizes in the Washington College Piano Competition. Our featured guest artist, Caroline Oltmanns, Professor of Piano at Youngstown State University, will be teaching a master class and presenting a concert as part of the Washington College Premier Artists Series. 

All events will be open to the public. In addition, students and families are welcome to take campus tours of the college.

To apply, send a completed application, an audition recording, and a $25 application fee (Washington College students are exempt from this fee) by March 1, 2020 to:  Debbie Reed, Washington College, 300 Washington Avenue, Chestertown, MD 21620.

Checks should be made out to “Washington College”.  There is no additional participation fee for accepted applicants.

10:00am-11:30am: Master Class taught by Caroline Oltmanns,
                               Professor of Piano, Youngstown State Univ.
                               Hotchkiss Recital Hall 
11:30am-12:30pm: Lunch in Hodson Dining Hall 
12:30pm-1:30pm: Campus Tour, meet in Gibson Lobby
12:30pm-1:50pm: Piano lessons with Dr. Park and Dr. Brower,
                             Room 207 & Room 105                                     
                             (Lessons being offered during campus tour for
                             those who do not want the tour)
2:00pm-3:00pm: Workshop by jazz pianist Joe Holt: “Flipping the
                            Switch to Improvisation at the Piano”
3:30pm-5:00pm: Washington College Piano Festival Student
                            Showcase/Competition Concert for all
                            participants with prizes for top performers - 
                            Hotchkiss Recital Hall
5:30pm: Dinner (Pizza + salad provided free of charge) - 
7pm:  Announce Showcase Prize Winners, Hotchkiss Recital Hall
7:30pm: Concert Series Performance: Caroline Oltmanns,
              Hotchkiss Recital Hall
