Music of the Americas: Salvadoran to Samba, a 2017 Riverfront Concert Series presented by the Starr Center

The 2017 Washington College Riverfront Concert Series continues on Thursday, July 6, 2017 with “Guitars Americana” featuring Fredy Granillo and Jonathan Stone (6:30pm show). The series is produced by the Starr Center for the Study of the American Experience and Michael Buckley producer and host of the Sunday Brunch on 103.1 WRNR.

Fredy Granillo is a Salvadoran musician, painter and ceramist.  He graduated from El Salvador’s Autonomous National University in 2012 with a degree in ceramics.   

After performing with the band Yarabi between 2003 and 2008, he has become a dedicated sinter-songwriter.  He recorded his first album ‘Todo Esta Normal’ (Everything is Normal) in 2012.  He has performed in El Salvador, California, New York, Chestertown, and the D.C. area.  

Fingerstyle guitarist Jonathan Stone is dedicated to performing Brazilian sambas and Brazilian Jazz. He’s also an aficionado of the Great American Songbook, Renaissance and Baroque styles of music.

Thursday, July 20: A Joyous Evening of Eastern Shore Community Gospel Music featuring the Gospel Shepherds and the Mighty Men of Mt. Olive Gospel Choir

All concerts begin at 6:30 p.m. with free lemonade and cookies provided each night. Rain locations: June 22 at Norman James Theatre, Washington College; and on July 6 and 20 at Hynson Pavilion, Wilmer Park.
