Buck Buck Moose

CES once again welcomes Hank Shaw back to campus for a book signing, short lecture, and demonstration to promote his new book, Buck, Buck, Moose.
Hank Shaw is a chef, forager, hunter, angler and writer, who visited Washington College in April of 2015. In addition to publishing in a number of periodicals including Food & Wine and Field & Stream he has now published three books including Hunt, Gather, Cook: Finding the Forgotten Feast and Duck, Duck, Goose: Recipes and Techniques for Ducks and Geese, both Wild and Domestic. Mr. Shaw also maintains a strong web presence through his website/blog hunter, angler, gardener, cook (http://honest-food.net/about/). Shaw’s blog Hunter Angler Gardener Cook won Best Food Blog by the James Beard Foundation in 2013, and was nominated in 2009 and 2010. He was also awarded the Bert Greene Award from the International Association of Culinary Professionals for Best Food Blog in both 2010 and 2011.
In this talk, “Buck Buck Moose: How to get the most from your deer” Shaw will discuss preparing hunted antlered and horned game with a focus on his unique approaches - using a variety of preparations to ensure that they taste and look amazing! After the talk, Hank will demonstrate how to prepare some of the more underutilized parts of a deer.
This event is free and open to the public.
