Jacob has worked on a variety of projects for the MHSO grant during his four years as a student at the college and has experience producing map and infographic products in ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, and Venngage. Additionally, for data collection projects and presentations, Jacob has used ArcGIS Collector, Survey123, StoryMaps, and Operations Dashboard. Jacob presented GIS applications for his peers in multiple classes while he was a student and attended several conferences, including the 2018 Delmarva GIS Conference and the 2019 and 2020 ESRI Federal GIS Conferences.

For two summers, Jacob secured internships with the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT). In 2018, Jacob worked as a GIS Intern at USDOT Headquarters in Washington, DC reporting to the GIS Manager and GIS Coordinator of the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, where he produced maps and created applications focused on ensuring pipeline safety and compliance across the country. In 2019, Jacob worked as an Environmental Intern at the Federal Highway Administration – Wisconsin Division office in Madison, Wisconsin reporting to the Environmental Program Manager and the Environmental Program Specialist, where he reviewed NEPA documentation and visited active and future construction sites for inspection. These roles allowed him to gain greater experience with GIS in the transportation sector and learn more about environmental, legal, and political factors that influence transportation across the United States.
