Etymology: Elaeagnus comes from the Greek words elaia meaning the “olive tree” and agnos meaning “chaste-tree.” Specifically, multiflora means “many flowered.”

Edible Parts

Produces edible berry-like fruits in the summer that are sweet and tart. They are juicy when fresh but may also be eaten dried or cooked, i.e. pies.
