Lanning is excited to expand his knowledge through his work at the Food Lab.
Raised in rural Montana, Lanning’s childhood was full of hunting, fishing, and exploration. He feels very lucky to have grown up with a family who helped to expand his food horizons, and who instilled in him a great love of food and cooking. He was a 4H member for eleven years, with nine of those years involving raising and selling hogs.
In the summer Lanning keeps busy with his family’s business doing range management and mapping, as well as being involved in his local volunteer fire department. On campus, Lanning is on the Trap and Skeet Team, a member of the Food Recovery Network, as well as Treasurer of the MMA Club.
