A day at the College’s River and Field Campus. Exploring wildlife restoration and habitat, foraging, and cooking your own dinner over the fire.
Thursday, July 18
Another day on the river cruising on the College’s 46-foot research vessel, the Callinectes. Get a peak at what life would be like as an Environmental Science major at Washington College. Learn about current graduate-level research students are completing in undergrad!
Friday, July 19
You will have the opportunity to explore one of the three topics below more in depth:
GIS Option: Learn about the Washington College Geographic Information Systems Lab
Archaeology Option: Exploring the Public Archaeology Lab
Habitat and Restoration: Spend some time learning about environmental policy and more.

Maryland’s Department of Natural Resources features the College’s Natural Lands Project on the cover of its latest Maryland Natural Resource magazine. Interviewing NLP coordinator Dan Small, the story highlighted a partnership at the Sassafras River Natural Resources Management Area between the Maryland Park Service and the College’s Center for Environment & Society to convert 83 acres of row crops to 80 acres of upland meadow, two acres of walking trails, and an acre of hedgerows, all of which will enhance restoration of bobwhite quail to the area.
