What do you do for a campus job or work study?
I am a Peer Mentor Leader. While I’m home on breaks, I work at my local Wawa.
What are you up to this summer? And what are you most looking forward to?
This summer I am participating in the National Science Foundation Research Experience for Undergraduates in Neuroscience at the University of Missouri. I am assisting in a study that looks at the effects of paced breathing on cognition. While I’m here, I also get to observe new and interesting research in the field of neuroscience (namely autism research) that is being conducted by the lab I’m working with. I’m also taking a class in Computational Neuroscience, a class in Psychophysiology, and a seminar about how to get into and be prepared for graduate school. I’m most looking forward to seeing how our study comes out and presenting a poster at the end of the summer on my research. I’m also excited to explore Columbia, Missouri, meet undergraduates who have the same academic and career goals as me, and learn from professors and graduate students!
Why did you choose your major?
I chose my major because I’ve always been interested in psychology and the mind, but I’m especially interested in how biology effects cognition and behavior.
What is your favorite Ctown hangout?
My favorite Ctown hangout is Chester River Wine & Cheese Co. It’s a newer shop in Chestertown but it should be on the top of your list to visit! It has such a warm and welcome atmosphere and they a nice seating area to just hang out. Plus, what’s better than sampling and buying really great cheeses?!
