Mindy Beers Early

Moving to Philadelphia shortly after, she applied her directing, acting and playwrighting expertise to her work at the University of Pennsylvania, Allens Lane Theater, Walnut Street Theatre, and Philadelphia Young Playwrights. During that time, she also co-founded The Cardboard Box Collaborative with fellow alumna Lindsay Krieg ‘00, a theater company specializing in the development of new theatrical works.
However, the majority of her past six years in Philadelphia have been devoted to Philadelphia Theatre Company Starting her career there as the 2004-5005 Directing Fellow, she served as an Assistant Director on six different productions over the course of three seasons. Currently she is PTC’s Resident Teaching Artist and Education Programs Associate; for the theatre company she has taught nearly 200 workshops at the theatre and at over twenty different Philadelphia middle and high schools. She also works as a freelance Teaching Artist.
Mindy is also a published writer, with poems in Mojo Risin’ and Medicinal Purposes literary magazines. Her produced plays include Profiling, Be All My Sins Remembered, Now Serving, and says Eugenia [a collaborative project with Stephen Spotswood ‘99 and Liam Daley ‘07]. She is currently working on a new play called The Second Coming of Life, a tribute to a close friend who passed on in 2007, which will premiere at Washington College in 2010.
Mindy fulfilled her senior thesis obligation at WC by directing a production of Arthur Miller’s The Creation of the World and Other Business. Her favorite WC productions include Boys From Syracuse (1999 - Luce) and Molly Sweeney (2000 - Molly).
