Julie Anne Bisi grew up and currently resides in Latrobe, Pennsylvania with her three beautiful children: Megan, Ryan, and Anna. Certified in Elementary Education with a Master’s degree in Elementary and Middle School Mathematics, Julie has a passion for children’s literature and sees tremendous value in using stories across the curriculum and in all grade levels. She wrote her Master’s thesis on using children’s literature to teach mathematics. She is the Co-founder and Director of a non-profit organization called The Absolute Value of One. AVOO offers a wide array of services designed to help youth recognize the absolute value of every human being through participation in service-learning programs strongly rooted in the mathematics classroom. A portion of the proceeds from her book, The House on Baker Hill will go directly to The Absolute Value of One. Her ultimate goal as an author is to write stories that will be integrated into this unique approach to service-learning.
