Though the dates of Alumni Weekend may be different, alumni can count on familiar faces and events once again this year. In response to alumni feedback, the event has been moved to a weekend separate from Commencement. Mark your calendars if you haven’t already for May 31-June 2, 2013.

The Alumni Office is offering on-campus accommodation options in suites and apartments, providing an online registration system that is more intuitive and user-friendly, and creating more opportunities for alumni to enjoy the Chester River, with boat rides and events offered along the waterfront.

Among the entertainment options are events featuring retiring faculty members. English professor Thomas J. Cousineau and math professor Louise Amick ’69 will offer talks Saturday morning, and veteran drama professors Jason Rubin and Timothy B. Maloney will be honored at the Roasty Toasty Cocktail Lounge Friday night.

“Many favorite alumni faces will be featured as well,” notes Carolyn Fuss Thompson ’98, associate director of alumni relations and annual giving. “Sam Guthridge ’04 will play in the bluegrass band Chester River Runoff Friday night at the all-alumni event on the river. Mike Hardesty ’05 and Rachel Field ’11 from the College’s Center for Environment & Society will lead a kayaking trip around Eastern Neck Island. Jon Cook ’00, owner of Blackwater Distilling, will be offering samples of his Sloop Betty Vodka at the Hynson-Ringgold House. Eric Lorberer ‘86, editor of the literary journal Rain Taxi, will give a poetry reading at the Rose O’Neill Literary House while a local vineyard offers a wine tasting. Andy Goddard ‘73 will host a special farm-to-table dinner featuring local food and drink prepared onsite.”

Drama alumni from many decades return to the stage Saturday night to put on a great show. And Ian Trusheim ’07 and Brooks Long ’08 conclude the weekend with a Saturday night performance while John Knorr ’93 offers tastings of his Evolution Craft brews.
