We live our work, focus on hands-on learning, and create stories to achieve our mission. 

Our Product Mark

In developing an icon that represents our efforts, we looked to our hands for inspiration. In Dr. Schindler’s thumbprint we found a beautiful swirl, which evokes everything we want to convey: continuity and evolution, and the natural energy movements of flames, wind, and water.

Pamela Cowart-Rickman in the Office of College Relations and Marketing created a symbol for us as the basis for our graphic identity — an icon to appear on loaves of bread, food products, informational displays, and brochures.

Our Logo

Our logo connects the Eastern Shore Food Lab with Washington College. We are part of the college, and proud to be a distinguishing program that brings together students, faculty, staff, and community members to use food to reconnect with what it means to be human.

Our Practices

We structure each week in the ESFL to follow regenerative rhythms that nourish life processes and continuous education. Our patterns of activities include fermentation, baking in our wood-fired oven, identifying and using wild foods, offering classes and workshops, community gathering and sharing, and gardening and building soil to sustain our efforts.
