Student Environmental Alliance

Initiatives

The Student Environmental Alliance is working on a variety of initiatives to support the campus sustainability efforts. Each initiative has a dedicated sub-committee within the club.

Back to Tap

We work to eliminate the sale and distribution of disposable plastic water bottles at Washington College by promoting the use of reusable water bottles at increasingly accessible refilling stations!

Food Waste Reduction

We educate students about composting and collect the compostable leftovers from students in the dining hall a couple meals a week to add to the compost pile in the Campus Garden.

We also have a chapter of the Food Recovery Network to recover the uneaten, untouched meals from the dining hall and feed those in need in the community.

R4: Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, Recycle

The four R’s..in that order! We educate students about waste reduction, promote fun ways to repurpose or “upcycle” old materials, and work to improve the recycling system on campus. We have launched a “WAC Free and For Sale” page where students can post items they wish to give away or sell.

Activism

This will be a new committee for the 2017-2018 year! Check back for more information or visit our Facebook page for actions you can take today.
