Young Historians’ Summer Conference
History Off the Page: Making the Past Present
This summer, we are inviting rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors to interact with other like-minded students and explore that past in a special three-day program.
History Off the Page is an introduction to the many ways we can investigate history beyond the printed word. (But don’t get us wrong — we still love books, too!) Together, we’ll do hands-on work with original archival documents, conduct oral history interviews, explore historic buildings and neighborhoods, experience virtual-reality history, view the Chesapeake landscape from the deck of a boat, and even travel to Washington, D.C. for a behind-the-scenes tour with curators in the midst of planning a major Smithsonian exhibition.
This year’s conference will be July 17-21.
All proceeds are used solely to benefit the operation of the Young Historians’ Conference and all associated programs.
