Named in honor of Clio, the Greco-Roman muse of history, HistoryMuse is a listserv for Washington College students, faculty, and staff with an interest in history, American studies, archaeology, historic preservation, and related fields. It is administered by the C.V. Starr Center for the Study of the American Experience.
HistoryMuse is designed especially to offer Washington College students access to a wider array of history-related opportunities: internships, fellowships, jobs, on- and off-campus events. We also welcome research queries or other history-related questions, suggestions, and discussions. Any student, faculty member, department, or campus group will be welcome to post an announcement.
Sample HistoryMuse postings:
- “Special summer internship available at Mount Vernon …”
- “Come to the History Club’s colonial picnic, Saturday at 4 pm …”
- “Hey, does anyone know of any local World War II vets I could interview for my paper for Dr. Black’s class …?”
We hope that HistoryMuse will be an asset to everyone working on history-related subjects, both inside the classroom and out, that it will encourage communication across departments, classes, and programs … and most of all, that it will spark some interesting conversations.
