“Whan that Aprille Day”: A Celebration of Multilingual Poetry, Chaucer, and National Poetry Month
Date: 4:30pm EDT March 29, 2016
Sponsored by Sigma Tau Delta and the Poetry Club, with support from the Global Education Office and the Rose O’Neill Literary House.
Please join us for a reading of several different types of poetry, ranging from excerpts to short poems in anything from Middle English to Mandarin, followed by a reception. We are looking for students and faculty to read in this event, as well as attend and create a community celebrating our increasingly international and multilingual campus. We are very excited to hear from students fluent in languages other than English—international students as well as students advanced in language study here!
In addition to members of the Poetry Club and Sigma Tau Delta, the list of readers is open to the student body at large. Since you interact with so many students across campus, we figured you might know some great potential readers who could be interested.
If you are interested in reading—in ANY language!—please let Olivia Serio know at firstname.lastname@example.org by Wednesday, March 9th.
If you are interested in reading but have no selection in mind (our guideline is no longer than 20 lines), please let us know; we are happy to provide an excerpt of Chaucer, including in other modern languages! Translation requests should be sent to Prof. Rydel at email@example.com by Tuesday March 1st, to provide ample time to obtain these texts and for readers to look them over.
