Washington College GIS Summer Internship Opportunities 2018
Washington College’s GIS Program will be holding its summer 2018 internships from May 28th, 2018 through August 17th, 2018.
The Lab will be open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm.
Full time positions are 35 hours a week, part time is 25 hours or less. You may apply to as many positions as desired.
Summer housing will not be covered for internships.

The primary duty of the GIS Student Analyst will be to work with clients, partners, and WC GIS Staff to complete a variety of GIS and research tasks for the completion of funded client-centered projects. They will mainly use ESRI’s ArcGIS software and web applications, but may be asked to use other software/technologies or learn new skills as determined by the projects (such as programming, teaching, or design). Students will be involved in data acquisition, analysis, and visualization—mainly through the creation of cartographic products.
Students will develop an understanding of traffic data as it relates to citations and crashes for the state of Maryland. Duties would include data correction, data quality analysis, mapping, understanding of GIS, python scripting, web development, and developing statistical reports.
Students will develop an understanding of domestic violence data. Duties would include data correction, data entry, research, geocoding and aggregating data, minimal supervision, and working with the web application, and other various tasks. This position has a high amount of data cleanup and data entry.
Students will develop an understanding of vehicle theft data. Duties would include data correction, mapping, product design, developing statistical reports, minimal supervision, and other varies task. This position has a moderate amount of data cleanup.
The primary duty of the Trainee will be to learn to work with ArcGIS Mapping software and additional software and hardware as needed to support active workforce projects. Additional duties include providing professional staff with project related support, communicating effectively with other interns and managing other duties as assigned. Interns may occasionally work outside, sometimes in inclement weather.
