Washington College has been working with the Maryland Highway Safety Office to develop a Border-to-Border campaign. Besides the state of Maryland, the project includes Delaware and Virginia in its efforts to reduce traffic fatalities and move ‘Toward Zero Deaths’.
The GIS Program’s first campaign was during St. Patrick’s Day weekend of 2018. Staff and student interns led law enforcement to make safe decisions while using data driven approaches. To do so they worked on infographics, statistics, and static/dynamic maps (RAVEN Web Application).
Washington College was invited to a checkpoint during the campaign to improve future analysis. The campaign is currently being evaluated in efforts to prepare for the next Border-to-Border campaign, which is predicted for the Fall of 2018.
