Community Health Resource Commission
The WC GIS Lab teamed up with the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to create visual evidence for how the budget is being spent to help high risk areas.
This project used ArcGIS and ArcGIS Online to create maps showing where high poverty, high infant mortality rates, and other high risk areas that affect health. These maps were created to show the location of health services in relation to the high risk communities. In addition, maps were created to show the areas where funding was going. When used together, these maps can serve as evidence that high risk areas are getting, or are not getting, the attention that they need.
The mapping services are provided to community health resources at no cost to the organization, through the generosity of the CHRC. The above map is an example of the type of visual representations of health care services and the at-risk populations that we provide for the Community Health Resource Commission and their clients.
