Sustainable Business

Date: 4:00pm EDT October 1, 2013

Jenn Vervier, Sustainability Director of New Belgium Brewing Company, will be returning to her alma mater to discuss how students can develop a career in sustainable business. New Belgium Brewing developed a name for itself as a truly sustainable business by implementing strategies like an internal electricity tax, waste reduction, alternative energy, and water usage reduction. Following her presentation there will be a beer tasting in the Goose Nest featuring a few of New Belgium’s beers. This lecture is sponsored by the Center for Environment & Society, the Department of Business Management, and the J.C. Jones Program in American Business Leadership and is a part of the Fall 2013 lecture series “What can I do with my Environmental Studies Degree?”

Jenn Vervier graduated from WAC in 1990 with a major in Humanities. She also received an MBA in Finance from Regis University as well as studied for a Masters in Applied Ethics from Colorado State University.  Jenn has been working with New Belgium Brewing for 18 years and is now the Director of Strategic Development and Sustainability and has helped New Belgium Brewing become a Platinum level Bicycle Friendly Business, among many other awards. New Belgium Brewing is committed to environmental stewardship and serves as a corporate role model.

With Washington College’s recent push toward sustainability, the Center for Environment & Society and the Washington College community are so excited to welcome Jenn back to talk about sustainable and strategic business.
