Annual Cardboard Boat Race and Fall Family Weekend
An annual part of the Fall Family Weekend, the Center for Environment & Society celebrates Chestertown, Washington College, and (of course) the Chester River! Enjoy an exciting, action-packed afternoon with activities on the water and land for all ages!
This year, our Get to Know CES event will take place from 1-4 in Wilmer Park on September 22, 2018. The Cardboard Boat Race will begin at 3 pm.
Rides on the Callinectes will be offered from 1-4pm for the first 25 people per trip, sign up at the Center for Environment & Society table in Wilmer Park.
From 1-4, Center for Environment & Society Staff will be on hand to discuss and demonstrate our innovative and educational programs. Visit each booth for a chance to win a 90 minute cruise on Chester River for up to 10 people on the Callinectes, or a guided tour of beautiful Chino Farm, including the bird banding station and historic grasslands, for up to 6 people. Stop by the trivia table to test your CES knowledge and win a prize.
There will be food, beer, kayaking, paddleboarding and live music!
Our staple Fall Family weekend event is the annual cardboard boat race! With up to $650 worth of prizes to compete for, this event is always entertaining to be a part of and watch from the sidelines.
Participants compete with homemade cardboard crafts ranging from nautical to whimsical and from seaworthy to waterlogged vessels.
