Washington College Voyagers Program

Enlist as a Voyager and embark on the journey of a lifetime, meeting Washington College alumni near you and building a network of support.

Networking with alumni is a sure-fire way to maximize your semester break. Meet for coffee and swap stories about campus life, or tour an office and get advice on how to make use of a WC education. There’s no telling where a conversation will take you—perhaps, you’ll discover a mutual love for basketball, get an idea for your senior thesis topic or secure your next internship. One thing is for sure: you’re bound to have a great time. After all, these are Washington College alumni we’re talking about.

Here’s the plan.

In the Alumni Relations and Annual Giving office, we live to serve our alumni, but with 10,000 of them living across the world, it can be difficult to please everyone. The Voyagers Program gives us the chance to get to know more of them: their experience as students and their thoughts on WC today. Whether you’re returning home for winter break or traveling abroad for a spring excursion, we want to match you with alumni living nearby. We provide the list of alumni to contact and you setup the meeting. Then simply, meet, talk and tell us how it went. The rest is up to us, using what you tell us, to improve the way we do things.

What to pack.

Voyagers come prepared with some essential qualities. You’ll want to bring along the following.

  • High-level of involvement and engagement in campus activities.
  • Curiosity and a desire to seek out and learn from others.
  • Keen listening skills.
  • Confidence and comfort with personal, one-on-one conversations.
  • Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-motivation, organization and an ability to work independently.
  • A positive attitude.

You’re not leaving this voyage empty handed. You’ll gain valuable experience and a wealth of professional contacts.
