guitar by Matt Palmer, Director of Guitar Studies at Washington College, and exciting
group Maharajah Flamenco Trio. Matt Palmer will give the world premiere performance
of Rafael Scarfullery’s Sonata in D Major.

6:00pm: SoloDuo, Guitar Concert featuring the exciting Italian guitar virtuosos SoloDuo.
Opening the concert will be the Eastern Shore Guitar Festival Orchestra, featuring
festival attendees.

October 22nd, 2016
1:00pm: Matt Palmer: “Effortless Technique: An Introduction to A-M-I Scales” Technique
clinic on “A-M-I” scales, a groundbreaking right-hand technique of playing fast scales
on the guitar. The goal of the clinic is to provide guitarists with an alternate method
of performing scales rapidly, fluidly, and efficiently.
2:00pm: Ornamentation on the Modern Guitar An exploration of Baroque ornamentation
and its application on the modern guitar. Through various examples, students will
learn how to apply and execute ornamentation in a musical context. Both French and
Italian styles will be covered.
3:00pm - 5:00pm: SoloDuo Masterclass Open to the public to watch, advanced students
will perform prepared pieces and be given pedagogical advice on musicality and technique
by renowned classical guitarists, SoloDuo.

11:00am: Flamenco Clinic with Maharajah Flamenco Trio Join Dr. Silviu Ciulei, Ramin
Yazdanpanah, and David Cobb for a workshop on the history and rhythms of Spanish flamenco
with an emphasis on guitar technique. The Trio will also discuss the different instruments
they incorporate in their realization of Nuevo Flamenco and the influences that helped
them create the music of Maharajah Flamenco Trio.
1:15pm: How to Practice: Secrets of the Great Guitarists Guitarist and composer Rafael
Scarfullery discusses proven and effective methods of practicing the guitar.
