Eastern Maryland Youth Orchestra

The Eastern Maryland Youth Orchestra seeks to enrich the lives of young musicians, and their audiences, through the performance of orchestral repertoire at the highest possible level.

EMYO was founded in 2015 to provide a valuable educational resource currently lacking on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The ensemble seeks to develop the reading, technical, and listening skills of the students, while also expanding their capabilities for artistic expression. Students will also learn how to collaborate as a group in both large and small performance settings. Under the umbrella of the Washington College Concert Series, students will also have access to top-notch concerts and educational opportunities provided by the series.

If you have any questions about the orchestra, please check the links to the left or email us at youth_orchestra@washcoll.edu. We look forward to hearing from you!

Our Mission

The Mission of the Eastern Maryland Youth Orchestra is to provide exciting and unique artistic and educational opportunities for many of our community’s young musicians. EMYO’s stimulating musical environment develops gifted young musicians from across eastern Maryland and Delaware by honing their skills as performers in a large orchestral group. Students will develop further through participation in chamber ensembles and in coaching sessions with professional musicians. They learn to work with others in pursuing common goals, and enrich all of our lives through public performances of classical music.
