Filmmaking Boot Camp
Join us for a hands-on approach to learning filmmaking as you explore storytelling from documentary, experimental and narrative perspectives.
You’ll learn about producing videos from start to finish –
PRE-PRODUCTION Concept, research, script, storyboard Location scouting & production management
PRODUCTION Cameras, framing, lighting, audio, interview techniques
POST-PRODUCTION Edit - iMovie, Final Cut Pro
Time will be split between in-studio workshops, location scouting and shooting around campus, Chestertown and the Chester River. Workshops and editing sessions will be based in the Beck Multimedia and Technology Learning Center, a high tech collaborative work space featuring 6 wall-mounted plasma monitors and access to the latest MacBook Pro laptops loaded with Final Cut Pro, iMovie, Adobe Photoshop and other relevant software. No experience necessary. Equipment will be provided.
Filmmaking is challenging, fun and easily the most used communication tool in modern society. Blending digital video projects into the classroom curricula develops students’ skills in areas such as critical thinking, problem-solving, research, collaboration and digital media technologies. In the following video Dr. Mindy Reynolds and her students discuss the use of video projects for her GRW course, The Body Toxic, taught during the Fall 2015 semester.
