Kudos Connaughton!

Martin Connaughton Martin Connaughton, assistant professor of biology, received the Alumni Association's Award for Distinguished Teaching this May at the College's 220th Commencement. In 1994, the Alumni Association assumed responsibility for funding the traditional distinguished teaching award when the Lindback Foundation awards were restricted to New Jersey institutions. The Distinguished Teaching Award now is endowed by gifts from alumni in honor of their most influential college professors.

Connaughton, who specializes in estuarine ecology, ichthyology and bioacoustics, might be the only Washington College professor who can talk to--or at least understand--the language of fish. This summer he is "Down East" with students again, teaching his second summer biology course on the ecology of coastal Maine.
