Two Join Board

The Board of Visitors and Governors recently welcomed two new members, whose terms will extend from July 1, 2000 through June 30, 2006. Joining the college leadership as Board-elected members are Thomas H. Maddux and David Litrenta '58. Craig Lewis and L. Clifford Schroeder were reappointed by the governor to new terms.

Maddux is Chairman and CEO of American Stone Mix, a Towson, MD, manufacturing company, Madduxand the father of Jenny Maddux Pacy '78 and two other children. American Stone-Mix holds exclusive marketing rights to Sakrete brand cement products. The company has 16 manufacturing locations serving markets in 21 states.

Maddux also serves on the board of the Greater Baltimore Medical Center, Schenuit Investments and Langston Corporation. Active in educational circles, he served for seven years as a member and three years as chairman of the Maryland State Board for Higher Education. In the mid-1980s he was Secretary of the Maryland Department of Economic and Community Development.

Litrenta, a trained physician, has been LitrentaRegional Medical Director of Concentra Medical Centers since 1994, overseeing five occupational medical clinics in central Pennsylvania. He owned and operated the York Industrial Medical Center from 1981 until 1994. He is a nationally recognized numismatist and an enthusiast of photography, antiques, rocks, minerals and fossils. He has been a member of the Washington College Visiting Committee since 1991 and served on the Pre-Med Committee from 1992-1995. David and his wife, Shirley, provided funds for the renovations of the Litrenta Lecture Hall in the Dunning Decker Science Center.
